Who runs Stokehill?
Stokehill is led by Debbie Hicks on a small farm in South Somerset. Debbie also manages the farm.
Debbie works with all types of schools and with other organisations, providing CPD for teachers and offering educational and wellbeing activities for pupils and adults, either in schools or on the farm. A variety of courses for schoolchildren and for adults take place on the farm, using the rich and stimulating environment as a springboard for learning and wellbeing. Almost all activities are offered free of charge, due to external funding from a range of sources (see individual pages for details).
Debbie has taught in maintained and independent secondary schools, been a subject leader and a member of the schools' inspectorate. She continues to teach Biology part-time in a secondary school, teaching throughout the school to Advanced Level and she also has a whole school CPD leadership role, which includes responsibility for Initial Teacher Training and NQT induction.
As part of her consultancy role, Debbie works with Leaf, as the Regional Educational Consultant for the south west.
So.... what do other people say?
I don't think it was only the course that is helping me but also the way you encouraged us to learn...... thank you so much for all of your incredible teaching that has put me in this position.....
(Sophie, former pupil, now in second year at medical school)
Thank you so much for a great day. The feed back from the children has been tremendous.

I soon began to look forward to our lessons! I love Biology and you have really made me keen to study it at University. Our lessons were always entertaining and fun and I know the rest of the class also really enjoyed them.
(Eleanor - former pupil, now on gap year)
Can I just say how enthusiastic they all were when they came back - they all thoroughly enjoyed it and said how brilliant you were!
